Simon Says...Love Is In The Air

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
LOVE IS IN THE AIR
and the first challenge of a new month means the Design Team are showing products from Carabelle Studios. We would love to see what you create with them if you have them, but it isn't necessary to join in the challenge.
We are also welcoming our February Designer In The Spotlight, the lovely and very talented Stacy Hutchison aka Tattered Nest Designs. If you haven't visited Stacy's blog yet, please pop by and say hi, you are in for a real treat.

I decided to decorate an Idea-ology Mini Mason Jars to hold some Love Hearts Valentine sweet treats for a friend.
I removed the lid from the Mason Jar, painted it with two coats of Spun Sugar Distress Paint and while the second coat was still wet, sprinkled with some yummy Spun Sugar Distress Glitter and set aside to dry. Wow, doesn't it look good enough to eat.
I stamped the Carabelle Studios Nichoirs (Birdhouses) image several times on to Distress Watercolor Card and coloured with a selection of summer candy colours using Distress Oxide inks and a Ranger Detailer Brush
I created a selection of pieces to fix to the Mason Jar Photo Tool Kit
1. Distress Watercolor card panel inked with Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous
Botanical and Batik stamp set inked with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink
and inked around the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide
2. I coloured a scrap of Distress Watercolor card with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide,
die cut a tag using the set of dies included with the Sizzix Sidekick,
embossed with the folder from the Valentine Side-Order
and sanded back to reveal the heart pattern.
3. I cut a scrap of Memoranda paper to make a small tag, embossed with the Valentine folder and inked the raised heart pattern with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide.
and die cut the "Love" words and hearts from card coloured with Worn Lipstick and white cardstock
I used the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Festive Greens Thinlits to die cut foliage from white cardstock and card coloured with Broken China and Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide inks...
I cut out the birdhouses and arranged them on the stamped panel and embossed tags usng 3D foam to create dimension.
I added the foliage, an envelope and heart covered with Glossy Accents from the Valentine Side-Order, Crinkle Ribbon to the large tag and a twine bow to the smaller tag. I fixed the Photo Tool Kit to the jar and held the Collage Panel in place with the Hinge Clip provided in the kit, painted with Spun Sugar Distress Paint and sprinkled with Spun Sugar Distress Gliitter.
I filled the jar with the sweets and fixed one sweet with a rather appropriate saying on the top of the lid...
and added twine around the rim of the jar.
I had intended only decorating one jar but I had to hunt high and low to find these sweets which were a favourite from my childhood and when I did finally track them down, I went into panic mode and purchased a job lot. So to save me from myself and possible expensive dental bills in the future...I have a" no willpower" sweet tooth...I need to decorate another two jars to tuck them all safely out of the way of temptation.
and the moral of the story..I will not be enterng any of those "Can You Guess How Many Sweets Are In The Jar" competitions because I have absolutely no chance of winning.
