and the theme for this week is...
OMBRE
Definition: Ombre is a French Word for a colour with shaded or varying tones,
e.g. fading from dark to light purple.
The first challenge of a new month is when the Design Team showcase a particular designer or brand and this month, it's the turn of the fabulous Dina Wakley, you don't need to used Dina's products to enter the challenge but if you have them, we would love to see what you create with them.
We are also welcoming the lovely and very talented Alison Bomber aka Words and Pictures back into the Designer Spotlight. If you haven't visited Alison's blog before then you are in for a real treat! Please pop by to say 'Hi'.
I decided to create a "Words Of Inspiration" wall panel for my craft room which I have to admit, was a little bit of a "making it up as I went along" adventure...
I began by scribbling circles with the Purple Scribble Stick on to Dina Wakley Media Cotton Watercolor Paper, spreading the colour to make larger lighter circles with a wet brush.
I wiped the Scribble Stick on to a damp baby wipe and pounced colour randomly on to the panel
I coloured the bottom rim of a Distress Spray Stain bottle with the purple Scribble Stick, spritzed lightly with water to create random circles. and added Dina Wakley Media and Washi Tape.
At this stage I decided to extend the colour further out to the edges of the Watercolor Paper by scribbling the Scribble Stick generously on to my glass mat and picking the colour up with a wet brush.
I applied torn strips of Dina Wakley Collage Paper using Soft Gel Matte Medium and added more circles by applying White Gesso with my finger to the rim of a bottle cap.
I scribbled the purple and black Scribble Sticks generously on to my glass mat, spritzed with water and created splatters on the background.
I added Collage Words to strips of the Cotton Watercolor Paper using Soft Gel Matte Medium and fixed to the panel.I picked up colour from the Black Scribble Stick with a Detailer Water Brush and created shadows around the Collage Words. I stitched around the edges of the panel to create a little bit of interest and fixed the panel to Simon Says Stamp Black Cardstock cut slightly larger. I then fixed the panel to heavyweight chipboard.
