In the meantime, these delicious Distress Oxide Sprays have been winking at me, tempting me to take them out of their box on the Ranger storage shelf again to have another play.
Of course, I was powerless to resist and was intriqued to see how they would look on black cardstock and here's the result...
The effect is amazing and I love how the initial spray is so bright and colourful but the colours soften down to this gorgeous chalky look when dry and how you can see all the layers and the detail of each droplet.
I trimmed black cardstock to measure 6" x 6" square and spritzed generously with Picked Raspberry and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Sprays. I tilted the card, allowed the sprays to run a little and spritzed with water. I dried the first layer, added small sprays of colour randomly and dried again.
I fixed scraps of Distress Mixed Media Heavystock and black card to Tim Holtz/Sizzix Adhesive Sheet. I coloured the Mixed Media Heavystock with Picked Raspberry and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxides using mini round blending tools, spritzed with water to create that droplet effect and die cut the butterfly from Tim Holtz/Sizzix Geo Springtime Thinlits. I removed the butterfly carefully from the die, didn't remove the carrier sheet to ensure all the sections stayed in place and fixed to the card with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I die-cut the butterfly again from the black cardstock, removed the carrier sheet and fixed on top. I die-cut the sentiment from the left over cards using Simon Says Stamp Script Hello dies
I stamped the Stitches image using Distress Black Archival
added splatters of White Gesso, an Idea-ology Small Talk Sticker and Tiny Text Remnant Rubs
I trimmed the panel down to 5.3/4" square and added to a 6" square White card blank.
check out all that cool detail, I love mix of all those individual little spray droplets
I suspect I'm now addicted to Distress Oxide Sprays and fear that the cubbyhole will become one great big SPLATBOX and that my Furry Partner will end up with a coat of many colours.
But not today, because a bumper parcel of new stamps and stencils have arrived from AALL&Create, just in time for me to get inky and have fun creating next week's Guest Designer project.
Toodle-oo for now
